May 2024 Impact Award Winner

Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic

Our May 2024 impact award meeting was held on Thursday, May 2nd. Our membership has grown to 90 members. Thank you to each of you for helping us make a difference in Charlotte County.

 

The winning organization for the May Impact Award was the Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic - a Florida nonprofit corporation with a current 501 (c)3 tax exempt status. The mission of VBA Clinic is to provide no-cost primary and semi-urgent medical services and prescription medication to our uninsured neighbors in Charlotte County.  Our Power of 100 Punta Gorda Members helped to raise $9,475 for the Virginia B. Andes Clinic at this year's meeting. And then we received a special donation from the Richard M. Schulz Foundation of a 50% match of monies raised by the Power of 100 Punta Gorda! This means an additional donation of $5000, bringing the total raised to $14,475. for the Virginia B, Andes Volunteer Clinic! Amazing job everyone! At the May Meeting, members also donated $1745 to Habitat for Humanity and $1225 to Hope DeSoto.

Together the Power of 100 Punta Gorda has helped to raise $22,560 in 2023 and so far in 2024 we have raised $17,445 with more Still to come.

November 2023 Impact Award Winner

Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center

Our November 2023 impact award meeting was held on Thursday, November 2nd with 80 members. The winning organization was Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, aka CHEC.  CHEC is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, which has been providing environmental education, recreation, environmental research, and conservation lands management services to the citizens and visitors of the greater Charlotte Harbor area since 1987.  You can visit www.checflorida.org for more information about CHEC and all they do to provide environmental services to Charlotte County.

Our Power of 100 Punta Gorda Members helped to raise $8600 for the CHEC organization! You can continue to help support this organization by visiting their website to learn more or to sign up as a volunteer.

Members also donated to the other 2 charities that Evening, Giving $2240 to ARCHWay Institute for mental Health and Addictive Disorders, as well as giving $1740 to Peace River WildLife Center.

May 2023 Impact Award Winner

Crossroads Hope Academy

Our first Impact Award meeting was held on May 4th with 65 members. the winning organization was Crossroads Hope Academy, located in Punta Gorda. Crossroads Hope Academy is a non-profit 501(c)(3) home for foster boys who have had multiple failed placements in the Florida foster care system. Crossroads takes in boys aged 12 to 17 and offers them a stable home where specially trained staff and counselors work to rescue these kids from despair and help them grow into

well adjusted and stable self sufficient adults.
